Historic Chateau Theatre
As a kid, this was truly a magical place to go see a movie! The theatre, built in 1927, with an interior that looks like the outside of a castle, complete with balconies and turrets. The ceiling looks like a starlit night sky.

Today, it's a great place to find a good read. The Historic Chateau is home to one of Rochester's Barnes & Noble Bookstores and a Starbucks Cafe.

A 48-room, three-story Italian Villa and home to three generations of the Mayo family. Open for public tours May - October; private tours may be arranged for large groups.

Plummer House & Botanical Gardens • 1091 Plummer Lane SW

49-room Tudor mansion built by Dr. Henry Plummer, on 11 acres of landscaped grounds. The Plummer House is often a venue for weddings and anniversaries.

The gardens close at sunset, but are open year-round. Open for self-guided tours Wednesdays, Jun - Aug, 1 - 7 PM; also the first & third Sundays from 1 -5 PM. Admission Fee. Group Tour Reservations may be made by calling 507-281-6160. Visit their website for more information.

Spam Museum • 1937 Spam Blvd, Austin

Spam Museum
A 16,500 sq. ft. museum located about 41 miles/50 min. SW of Rochester devoted to the history of the SPAM family of products.

Museum visitors will be welcomed with a variety of interactive and educational games, fun exhibits and video presentations on this famous lunchmeat. Visit www.spam.com for more information.

Silver Lake Park • 7th ST & 2nd AV NE

Home to ducks and our famous (or infamous) Canada Geese, you can also picnic or enjoy biking, rollerblading, jogging or walking around the lake. Canoe and paddleboat rentals are available in the summer.

There are picnic areas and playgrounds located on both east west sides of the lake, as well as an extensive playground located between Silver Lake Pool and 11th AV NE.

Quarry Hill Nature Center • Silver Creek RD NE

Accessible from East Circle DR (CR 22), Quarry Hill Nature Center offers interactive displays and exhibits of the area's wildlife and a 1,700 gallon aquarium of native fish.

You can also go biking and hiking on the 5 miles of trails through the meadows, forests and flood plain.

Quarry Hill Park also features a 2-acre fishing pond (see weblink below), fossil beds and historic sandstone caves.

Oxbow Park • 5731 CR 105 NW, Byron

Oxbow Park is a beautiful 572-acre park located on County Road 105, approximately 3.5 miles north of Byron.

The park was named Oxbow because it is nestled along a bend in the Zumbro River that is shaped like an ox yoke or “oxbow”. It features picnicking, hiking, camping a Nature Center and the Zollman Zoo. The zoo is home to more than 30 Native Minnesota animal species.

Park Hours: Daily, 7AM - 10PM
